Our travel season is in full bloom, and we’re excited to welcome you back for your first 2024 visit to America’s favorite historic destination!
Whether you’re interested in taking your first steps of the year out on the Gettysburg battlefield, or are looking to catch a glimpse of a few of those millions of pink and white peach and apple blossoms that dot our breathtaking countryside, April is a great time to visit!
Here are our top reasons to plan an April adventure to Gettysburg …
Blossoms! They’re everywhere and these seas of beautiful colors are Gettysburg’s sign that Spring has officially arrived. Use our new Adams County Blossom Belt map as your guide through the Gettysburg countryside.
Ken Burns is back! The Gettysburg Film Festival is putting the town in the spotlight and celebrating America’s favorite documentary filmmaker, April 5-6. Tickets are still available at a variety of events and screenings.
Visit the new visitor center at National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton in nearby Emmitsburg, Md. This awe-inspiring landmark is just 10 minutes away and has living history programs every weekend in April.
Fields of Adventure isn’t just an autumn attraction. In April, it’s all about the fields of colorful tulips in full bloom. You can enjoy a day on the farm with not only flowers, but baby animals and family friendly farm fun.
History and art go together like spaghetti and meatballs, peanut butter and jelly. The History Meets the Arts Show is back for its 25th year in Gettysburg. From April 12-13, admire (and purchase) amazing artwork by a variety of painters, sculptors and other craftspeople.
There’s no better sign that summer is around the corner than fresh fruits and vegetables. Our Adams County Farmer’s Market opens on April 27, and is a color and delicious way to celebrate the season!
With warmer weather comes outdoor dining, and Gettysburg is home to a wide assortment of restaurants, coffee shops, wineries, breweries and cafes that bring delicious food out to diners soaking up the sun and fresh air.
But, if your sign of Spring is marked with a racing bib and chip timer, it’s not too late to register for the Gettysburg Festival of Races, a series of events ranging from marathon distance to 5K.
