For the Cider Aficionado

Apples, apples and more apples are grown all across Adams County! Discover for yourself the funky flavors of the hard ciders that these freshly picked apples are being turned into giving Adams County the nickname, Cider Town, Pa.

Day 1

Reid’s Winery: The Home Winery in Orrtanna, Pa. is a great place to begin your cider tasting journey. With over a dozen cider varieties, Reid’s Black Bear Hard Cider features an array of sweet ciders with a few semi-sweet and dry ciders for the traditionalists. Sit back and enjoy a cider flight or pint in their outdoor seating area overlooking the countryside. Don’t forget to get your passport stamped. Try their wine for a second stamp in your book!

Next stop is Boyer Cellars, just 6.5 miles down the road in Biglerville, Pa. Great Shoals Winery sources apples and other fruits from Boyer’s orchards and turns them into hard ciders, and wines, that are sold at Boyer Cellars. This beautiful tasting room sits next to Boyer’s Nursery and farm market. Pick up some fresh fruit to enjoy with your drinks for an extra authentic Adams County touch.

Just a mile from Boyer Cellars, you’ll find Hauser Estate Winery. Go up the hill for gorgeous views and their popular Jack’s Hard Cider. Wine and cider tastings are held daily and special events often feature live music, dancing and catered food. Sample their wine for an extra stamp in your passport.

Go just down the road to reach your next stop, Thirsty Farmer Brew Works. Beer may be in their name, but Thirsty Farmer has perfected the art of creating amazing hard ciders as well. Homegrown apples, and even hops, are used in their ciders giving each blend its own distinctive characters. You may be getting hungry by now, and Thirsty Farmer’s food won’t disappoint. Choose from flatbreads, wraps, paninis, nachos and a variety of other mouthwatering options.

If you loved Reid’s Winery: The Home Winery, don’t miss a chance to sample more of their beverages at their location in downtown Gettysburg, Reid’s Winery: The Cider House. This will be your last stop for the day – and after a busy day of cider tasting and exploring, it’s offers the perfect opportunity to unwind. They often bring in live local musicians to enhance the experience.

After a full day of cider and craft beverage tasting, don't forget to collect your coasters for earning 5+ stamps along the Adams County pour Tour. This may wrap up your cider tasting experience, but don’t miss the opportunity to try the craft beer, spirts and wine along the trail!
