Sachs Covered Bridge

Built by David Stoner in 1852, the historic Sachs Covered Bridge was used by both Union and Confederate Troops during the Civil War Battle of Gettysburg, July 1-3, 1863. It is located off Pumping Station Road in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania crossing over Marsh Creek.

In 1938, the bridge was designated Pennsylvania’s “most historic bridge” by the Department of Highways. In 1980, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors today can walk across the lattice bridge, taking in both the history and nature of the area. It is also reportedly known to be haunted, with many accounts of paranormal encounters.
