New Year’s Eve 2023 Gettysburg
Lincoln Square
Gettysburg, PA

Welcome 2023 by starting a new tradition, the raising of Abraham Lincoln’s stovepipe hat, a first for Gettysburg, all brought to you by Gettysburg Alive teaming up with Gettysburg Pride to make Dec 31, 2022, a night to remember.

Music, dancing, fun family activities, food trucks, and vendors on the street are topped by the raising of Abe’s Hat.

Music by HD Entertainment begins at 6 p.m. continuing through the night. Fireworks are scheduled for midnight. Live performances on the Art Oasis in the Square, a pub crawl, and restaurants featuring New Year’s Eve events are additional activities to look forward to.

Raising a 14-foot aluminum stovepipe hat is the highlight of the night, thanks to Chris Thompson of Thompson’s Welding & Custom Fabrication (and his twin sons) who built “the topper” in time for the festivities.

An event of this size requires some traffic management so road closures to all vehicular traffic begins at 4 p.m. and includes Lincoln Square and one block adjacent to the Square: Chambersburg St. at Washington St., Carlisle St. at Railroad St., York St. at Stratton St., Baltimore St. at Middle St.  Roads reopen at 1 a.m. on January 1, 2023.

Come and raise your hat and welcome 2023, only in Gettysburg.

Thanks to Gettysburg Connection for providing details about the evening.
