Holiday Open House & Tour at Dobbin House Tavern

Enjoy a FREE, guided, hour-plus tour of the oldest, most historic house in Gettysburg, the Dobbin House. This popular and highly-rated presentation highlights the house, built in 1776, by the Reverend Alexander Dobbin. His stone home spans three centuries of American history, from the Revolutionary War through the Civil War and beyond.

View all the decorated rooms while interacting with period antiques to understand how the home's occupants lived during the 18th and 19th centuries. Savor a combination of history and entertainment.  Hear how the Dobbin family planned to defend themselves from Indian attacks, discover Matthew Dobbin’s secret slave hideout, explore what the Zeigler family experienced while living in the home during the Battle of Gettysburg and the Eisenhower’s connection to the Dobbin House. Also, take a peek in the kitchen of the current restaurant.

Tours meet in the Dobbin House Country Curiosity Store. Please note that the tour includes going up and down stairs.
