Students of all ages are welcome to the Shrine’s Backpack Blessing, which takes place during the annual Birthday Mass for Elizabeth Ann Seton. After Mass around 2:30 pm, join us for an end-of-summer celebration of fun activities for kids of all ages. Elizabeth Ann Seton understood the value of education, so much so that she started the first free Catholic school for girls in the U.S., staffed by Sisters. This school is seen as the beginning of Catholic schools in the U.S., and some schools trace their roots back to her school. All are welcome to join us as we celebrate her birthday and legacy of education at this event. If you don’t use a backpack, please bring whatever you might use in your studies–a book bag, basket, tablet or anything else.
