Yes we have a famous battlefield to tour by car, bicycle, horseback, and even on foot but we boast a wealth of activities beyond those historic acres.
From historic taverns to ethnic cuisine, farm-to-table dining to unique edibles, the tastes of Gettysburg are sure to please every palate.
With adventures to suit every budget, Gettysburg and Adams County businesses offer plenty of packages to help visitors create their dream vacations.
Through the presentation of live Civil War era music with sing a longs, readings from a citizen nurse and soldiers who served and were treated in this historic building, and the reading of poetry which captures the emotion and pathos of this tragic period in our history, this program brings to life the events which occurred in this Civil War hospital when 140 wounded and dying soldiers were sheltered in this beautiful.church during and after the batter of Gettysburg. As you enter the church you will be given the name of an actual soldier who was treated here. At the end of the performance you can check a Wounded Soldier's Directory Sheet which will tell you your soldier's fate--did he survive or not. If your soldier was buried at the National Cemetery his grave location will be listed.
This program is free of charge. Handicap accessible. Music begins at 7:30pm, program starts at 8pm.
