Day 1

Gettysburg is a destination for activity, so be sure to pack your running, walking, hiking, biking, golfing shoes. From touring the battlefield to goat yoga, you will be on the move and keeping healthy while having fun.

Bring your bike or rent one while you are here. Take an organized tour with GettysBike Tours to understand what happened here over 150 years ago or spend time riding the 26-miles of paved road in the Gettysburg National Military Park on your own. Another way to stretch your feet and soak in some history is with a battlefield hike.

Grab some lunch to fuel up before heading out to Strawberry Hill Nature Preserve to hit the trails. You will discover wet and dry woodlands, mountain streams, ponds and a restored mineral quarry across 10 miles of trails. You can check out amazing plants and wildlife – nothing ferocious though, just beautiful red-spotted newts, barred owls, pileated woodpeckers and maybe a wild turkey.

By this time, you surely worked up an appetite! Continue enjoying the fresh air with a meal at one of these outdoor dining spots.

After an active day, unwind with a yoga class. If you're an animal lover, you can even find your zen with a goat yoga class on the farm! If yoga isn't for you, that's okay - you can go just to spoil the goats with attention too.

Day 2

The next day, spend your morning on the golf course. Check out these five favorite holes! Or perhaps fishing is more your speed. There are plenty of fishing holes in Adams County, including at the historic Sach's Covered Bridge.

Head back to town for a guided tour or a self-guided tour to learn the history. Or maybe you just prefer to stretch your legs by wandering in and out of the shops… a great way to explore what’s new in historic Gettysburg. You'll also have a variety of restaurants to choose from downtown!

Spend your evening strolling through the orchards of Adams County picking your own fresh apples, cherries, strawberries, blueberries... whatever is in season! You'll want to bring these with you for a taste of Adams County from home.

During your next trip energize your mind, body and soul with these tips.
