Adams County is Apple Country. Our farmers produce more apples than anywhere else in Pennsylvania. Their crop makes them the fourth largest producer in the United States. Today, a small group of growers are turning their attention to Hard Cider. From small batch, hand crafted to a growing name in retail, our growers are making a new name for Adams County. When you're in town, stop by Tommy's for a taste of Ploughman and Big Hill. Be sure to grab a pint at Reid's Cider House or a six pack of Jack's at Hauser Estate Winery. The National Apple Harvest Festival
For over 50 years, the Upper Adams Jaycees have been hosting a celebration of our apple industry. Once a one-day event for the community, this annual tradition has grown to host over 100,000 during a four-day period and become one of the most celebrated events in Gettysburg.
The Hanover Shoe Farms - horses of Adams County
In the early 1900s, the Hanover Shoe Stables began, racing horses throughout Pennsylvania. Today, the farm boasts 345 broodmares, 9 stallions, and in 2018, will sell nearly 150 yearlings. This story is about these horses, and those that have come before them. It is about the farms and the family.
