Yes we have a famous battlefield to tour by car, bicycle, horseback, and even on foot but we boast a wealth of activities beyond those historic acres.
From historic taverns to ethnic cuisine, farm-to-table dining to unique edibles, the tastes of Gettysburg are sure to please every palate.
With adventures to suit every budget, Gettysburg and Adams County businesses offer plenty of packages to help visitors create their dream vacations.
Veteran reenactors/living historians, Pat and Joanne Dunigan will educate and entertain us with their stories of progression through the ranks from novice to veteran in the reenacting community. Patrick now portrays General Warren, but has had many personae along the way and his story illustrates the many opportunities available to those interested in Civil War history. Joanne is an expert seamstress and will show us some of her handiwork as well as educate us on the proper way to dress a Civil War period woman. Their program will take place following an 11:30am luncheon in the Abigail Adams ballroom of the Dobbin House Restaurant.
In the evening we are invited to join the Civil War Dance group in Fairfield, Pa. for one of their monthly dance rehearsals. Learn the basics of Civil War dance without the formalities of a Civil War Ball setting. This is a unique opportunity to get a taste of the dedicated group who offer us their talents throughout the year as they interpret history and life style of the period.
