Friday, November 17th
We're not the only ones who like to don attire from other periods. Our ancestors during the Civil War were also fond of Fancy Dress or Masquerade Balls. You now have the opportunity to dress in any time period prior to 1865. A colonial soldier? Or perhaps a lady in waiting from the Court of Louis XVI. A Renaissance prince or a Roman senator. Then there are Cleopatra, Martha Washington and a whole host of other ideas. Perhaps two couples would like to come as Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Or the Three Musketeers. Zorro! Any one, thing or impression as long as it's prior to 1865. And, of course, any attire from the 1860s will be just fine.
Music will be provided by the Libby Prison Minstrels with Steve Bockmiller as your dancemaster. And with all of these different costumes we will have a host of surprises for you.
Saturday, November 18th
This will be a recreation of the Prince of Wales Ball that was held in 1860. Ladies, this is the time to put on the 'bling'. Jewelry, tiaras and flowers for your hair give you plenty of options. Gentlemen, the time to brush off that uniform, whether it is a private's sack coat or a general's full dress uniform, has arrived. Perhaps a white carnation for your lapel. And don't forget your gloves. And, yes, you will have an opportunity to meet the Prince of Wales. Any Civil War evening attire or uniform will do just fine.
Music will be provided by The Fleeting Moments Waltz and Quickstep Orchestra. Your dancemaster once more is Susan deGuardiola.
The ticket price for either evening is just $78/per person which includes the social hour beginning at 5:30pm, a three course dinner served at 6:30pm, all the usual gifts, the chocolate frames and great entertainment. Email John Newbold at firstname.lastname@example.org for tickets. Tickets are limited and sell-outs occur almost every year. When ordering tickets, please include the number of tickets needed, which night you will be attending, your email address and dinner selections. Tickets for just the Ball portion of the evenings are also available. The ball will be from approximately 8:00pm-12:00am. In addition to payments by check, we can now accept Paypal and most major credit cards. Contact us for the details. Period attire is required of all. And while this is an event for adults, any children attending must wear appropriate period attire.
